Alonso, Marquez take advantage of the new tyre conditions
Fernando Alonso, Daniil Kvyat and Sergio Perez are now the only three drivers in Formula One to have not yet had to wear new tyres.
Alonso and Daniil were the only drivers to not have to change tyres for their second stint in Bahrain on Sunday, as their car remained in neutral.
Kvyat, meanwhile, was able to continue with his maiden season with Mercedes but the new tyres will not be used this season.
The Bahrain Grand Prix pitted the two Mercedes drivers in a similar position as in the first stint, but the Spaniard managed to get away from the other two.
With three laps to go, Alonso went on to make the first pit stop of the race, while Perez got his first in Formula 1.
Perez was able, however, to finish the race without the car.
Alonso’s win in Bahrain came just six days after he won his first race in Formula 3 in the US.
